Editorial policy

Pilgrims plan journeys, spend money and make vows based on what they read. We take that responsibility seriously. This is how we work.

Our purpose

To give devotees accurate, complete and respectful information about Tiruchendur Murugan Temple, in plain language, in one place.

Sources and fact-checking

  • Operational facts — timings, queues, festival-day hours, rules — come first from the official HR&CE temple website and temple notices.
  • History and legend are cross-checked across scripture, Tamil devotional literature, reputable encyclopaedias and newspapers. We name the source of traditions and note where accounts differ.
  • Each page lists its main sources and shows the date it was last reviewed.

First-hand experience

Practical advice about queues, crowds, the sea bath and travel is based on visits to Tiruchendur and on accounts from pilgrims, and is updated when we learn that conditions have changed.

Review schedule

We review timings and festival information before each major festival and at least every six months. Pages are re-dated only when they have actually been re-checked.

Independence

We are not affiliated with the temple, the HR&CE Department, hotels, travel agents or priests. We do not accept payment for coverage. If we ever carry advertising or sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial content.

Corrections

Report errors through our contact page or contact@thiruchendurmurugantemple.com. We aim to verify reports within seven days, correct confirmed errors promptly and note significant corrections on the page.

Use of tools

We may use software tools, including AI writing assistants, to help draft and organise content. Every page is reviewed, fact-checked and approved by our editors before publication, and editors are responsible for everything we publish.
